Hehas been Editor of the journals;‘Communicator’ and the ‘Sanchar Madhyam’ inEnglish and Hindi respectively. We do feel that Prof. Dhuliya and Dr Anand Pradhan has the vision to guide IIMCovercome the present identity crisis in liason with the ex-students, redrawingthe interlinkages and making the context manifest. This kind of association is run bya core group who will have to devote sometime to organisation and ininitial phase it will demand a bit more time from core group but oncethe association is in place it can become a vibrant organisation.I would suggest a meeting in April and it can be held atIIMC and I can take care of it. There is no need for any outsidefinancial support although it can be arranged easily but it would bebetter if we organise our first meeting without any sponsorship andthrough individual contribution of participants for some kind ofworking lunch or dinner
.I would suggest that we identify one IIMC alumni in every mediaorganisation who will be responsible to inform all in his/ herorganisation.Akhilesh Sharma for NDTV (akhilesh@ndtv।com)Rajnish and Siddhinath for Sahara Samay (siddhinath@indiatimes.com),Prashant Kumar and Nishi Jain (nidhi.jain@aajtak.com)Jemini Kumar (mihirjkumar@yahoo.com) for Prasar Bharti,Mihir Gautam and Pravanjan Verma for Jagran TV (pravanjanverma@rediffmail.com)Mehraj Dube for Star News (mehrajd@starnews.co.in)Y P Rajesh for Reuters (yp.rajesh@reuters.com)V.Ramakrishnan for Dow Jones (ve.ramakrishnan@dowjones.com)Devlin Roy for The Times of India (devlin.roy@timesgroup.com)Unnikrishnan and Ashok Bagariya for Indian Express (urshanker@yahoo.com),(ashok_bags@yahoo.co.in)Kushal Yadav for Down To Earth (kushal@cseindia.org)Rakhi Bakshi for India TV (rakhi_bakshi2002@yahoo.co.in)Rajesh K Singh for Businessworld (rajeshk1976@rediffmail.com)Sushil Jha for BBC (sushiljha76@indiatimes.com)Seema Sangra for Oneworld (seema_sangra@hotmail.com)Alimma Tigga for The Financial Express (alimatigga@yahoo.com)Sachin Budhauliya for UNI (sacbud@hotmail.com)Dinesh Gautam for Zee News (dinna_gautam@rediffmail.com)and so onDr Anand Pradhan and I can also do some coordination, as workload inApril will not be much। Our role will be of coordination andobjectives and agenda has to be set by former and present students।Faculty can only join the gathering as guests on invitaion and forlunch/dinner
।Faculty members present in deliberations of setting agenda has to be avoided atthis stage. A postive and constructive approach is required- but you have to beconstructively critical without being hostile. It is through this kind ofdialogue negative influeces can be minimized. This kind of intervention is callof hour if you want IIMC to stay as premier public and national institutionin the field of journalsim and communication education, training andreserch.IIMC is difinitely in some kind of identity crisis and if right kind ofintervention is not made by those who care for it, they would have a lot of regrets later. I think if you can make contribution for development and growthof IIMC and prevent it from becoming a kind of picinic spot then you should nothesitate to make the contribution.Think about it and we can deliberate further. In the proposed April meeting we must appoint a organising committee of some tenmembers who will also get it registered as office bearers without a GB meetingto begin with and once we have full membership in place we can hold formalelections of office bearers and launch Chapter for each centers/ city wheremedia has greater concentration. With best wishes,Subhash DhuliyaProfessorIIMC
